Make Ben Roethlisberger Go To Church. That'll Learn 'Em!

Here is what you get when you mix bad theology and sports. From a Sports Illustrated article on Ben Roethlisberger:

Others offer their opinions of Roethlisberger, such as 57-year-old Danny Snow, who last Saturday sat at the pool hall down the street from a marathon Bible reading at the Old Baldwin County Courthouse. "They should also make him go to church every Sunday," Snow said. "How else is he going to change? Otherwise, the only thing he'll be changing are nightclubs."

So let me get this straight. What Big Ben needs, a 28 year old multi-millionaire spoiled brat, is to be made to go to church as punishment until he straightens up. See, I didn't realize that the church is just a nicer version of reform school. I guess when I read the New Testament, I don't see the church as someplace people should be sent as a punishment. The Gospel is not about behavior modification.

I think maybe what Big Ben is to grow up, a lot.

I think a Browns fan's bias is showing. I think you want Big Ben to stay away from church because you know if his life straightens out, he will even more effective against them. How sad that your football fanaticism has blinded you to the spiritual needs of Big Ben (If anyone is wondering, this is a sarcastic response).

When I was young, I always thought of church as punishment.

Today, my kids love spending time with the church. We must be doing something wrong.

Jeremy,

By most accounts Ben was a nice guy when he lived in Findlay and played ball for Miami. Then he went to Pittsburgh and turned into a dirtbag. Coincidence?

I think not.
