Very interesting thoughts here from Allan Bevere. The love that Jesus speaks of is a self-sacrificing love, a love that came with a cost. The notion of just feeling warm and fuzzy towards each other is not at all what Jesus is speaking of. Jesus was neither, as Allan puts it, a right-wing revolutionary or a proto-hippie. He was someone who defied categories and upset the proverbial apple cart. Good stuff, give it a read!
