A major milestone

I just realized that as of this week we, for the first time in seventeen years without a break, do not have a child in diapers. Man that was a lot of diapers.

Is there any part of this that is bittersweet? Having seven kids myself, with my youngest being only 3 months old, a life without diapers seems like fiction. At the same time it would seem kind of sad to close that chapter for good. No diapers means no babies, and babies are good.

Chad, there is absolutely a sense in which it is sad. I am reminded all the time that we are not far away from that day when my littlest ones won't sit on our laps anymore. But at 39 that stage in our life is passing unless we adopt some children. We are now looking forward to grandchildren even though I am at an age when some people are having their first children! We are not quite ready for that yet but that day is coming soon!
