We have a lot going on this weekend. Besides the normal stuff that goes along with being a homeschooling family of ten, my in-laws are coming over tomorrow and bring four Percheron draft horses with them to live on our farm. We need to get their hooves trimmed which is a chore on any horse and doubly so on horses this big so we are going to haul them down the road to an Amish guy (who might be able to train them for us so we can use them to pull wagons and carts). Hopefully we can work it out to have lunch with my in-laws before they have to drive the couple of hours back into Ohio.
We are planning on moving the baby chicks out to the barn as well since we are going from yesterday (-8, -28 with windchill) to low temperatures above freezing next week. Plus they are getting big which means they are making the house kind of dirty and stinky and are starting to get out of the brooder, not a great move on the part of a small chick in a house with a curious Australian Shepherd and five cats. Our single sheep is kind of lonely out in the barn, she is about to have lots of company!
Then we are gathering with the church on Sunday and that is always something of a process to get everyone up and running. So it promises to be a busy, busy weekend for us but I am looking forward to it!
