If only all churches were like Saddleback

This is going to cause an uproar all over the blogosphere. Rick Warren tweeted this evening the following on Twitter:

I challenge any church in America to match the spiritual maturity, godliness & commitment of any 500 members of Saddleback

Wow.

I'm not sure which is worse--that, or the previous tweet:

"For 30 yrs our plan was to turn spectators into participators, consumers to contributors,an audience into an army.It worked!"

Randy said, "What is it that goes before the fall? Oh yeah...pride."

Ugh.

I don't "do" Twitter, so I find those pages a little confusing - sort of like hearing only one side of a phone conversation and I have no idea whom he is speaking to. It does appear that Rick removed his "tweets" from yesterday. Does that mean he lost the challenge?

I did read some other "tweets" there that bothered me about as much:

For exponential growth, the pastor must give the ministry to the people and the people must give the leadership to the pastor

followed by (the next day):

Most problems are rooted in our attempts to play God, thinking only of ourselves, & an unwillingness to delay gratification

Oh, the irony.
