Pearl Harbor Day

December 7th, 1941

A Day that will live in infamy....

67 years ago today, America was attacked in what would be the worst disaster inflicted upon America until 9/11/01. Over 2400 Americans killed, our battleship fleet destroyed and our military on the defensive for the next few years in the Pacific. It is a testament to America that we were able to pull it together, change from a defensive posture to an offensive one and defeat the Japanese Imperial Navy in spite of their headstart and their dug-in positions across the Pacific.

Like September 11th, Pearl Harbor Day is for the most part forgotten. The need for eternal vigilance? Nah, what is on TV? I need a bailout for my bad business decisions. The government needs to fix the mortgage that I never should have taken out. Shared sacrifice? Pulling together?

That is so 1940's.
