One of the greatest results of the Reformation was the Word of God in the language of the people. King James style English hasn't been the language of the people for hundreds of years.
We use the KJV mostly, because of the manuscripts it comes from. BUT, we would love to see a modern translation from these texts, any ideas? With my 7yo now reading for family worship, we really need something that is easier to read and understand. (Who am I kidding, some times I do not understand the KJV).
Bethany, I am not an expert on the manuscripts but I believe the New King James uses the same manuscripts without the anachronistic language. I would also note that many men who are far more accomplished than I and know the manuscript issues prefer other versions to the KJV. I like the KJV especially in the Psalms, and have no issue with people using it. My only concern is when people get dogmatic about it.

I love the KJV, but use other translations. Especially when teaching the children. I love comparing various translations.

The KJV and the NKJV are both birthed from the Textus Receptus.
