Headcovering slippage

So a couple of my wife's new headcovers, which she likes a lot, keep slipping back on her head. She bobbie pins them to keep them in place, but I was wondering what other headcovering types do to keep their covers from slipping? I suggested double sided tape on the inside or perhaps staples, neither suggestion was found to be helpful or amusing.

Any advice?

Ah yes, the struggle to make it work. Bobby pins don't grip very well.
I use those metal snap clips, one on each side of each ear.
The cover will not budge when you do this.
Its very simple to make them match the cover as well. Find a bottle of nail polish in the same color as the cover and paint the clip. Its a flexible paint so it does not chip very easily, but when it does, you can touch it up easily.
For super light weight covers, place a snap clip in the hair on top of the head, just past the area where the cover will rest. Put the cover on, and take a straight pin and pin the cover to the clip.

If staples and duct tape are out... what about hot glue gun?

I tie my covers on so tight that last week I had perpetual headaches! I actually did not wear it for two days while I recovered. I am looking for a new kind now - I think I will go to the etsy shop that you mentioned. Did you know that the proceeds from that go to a vasectomy reversal? A good cause in my mind.

Call me prudish, but I found it a bit distasteful to advertise your husband's vasectomy reversal. I definitely think it's a good cause...maybe it just could have stated that proceeds would go toward medical treatment to help expand their family? Maybe it's just me...

Anyhoo...Arthur, what type of hair does your wife have? Mine is pretty thin, but I found that when I curled it a bit and added some hairspray today, that gave it the extra body it needed to "fit" my headcovering, without much slipping. Also, she could try affixing it to a headband, either by sewing or some sort of adhesive.

Would love to hear how your wife arrived to the decision for headcovering? Does she wear it only at church for worship or all the time?
I know the passage in Corinthians about head covering - but I thought head covering for women was her hair?
I would love to hear how you arrived to this conviction.
God bless,

Gloria,

Actually my wife came to the conviction to cover before I did. When I came to agree, it was for the same reason that you left mormonism, just from reading what the Word says. When you dig into it, and read 1 Cor 11 in context it becomes apparent that Paul is not speaking of hair as the covering, nor is he referring to some cultural issue. The issue is one of creation order and headship, so we choose to follow the plain teaching of Scripture. It has been a blessing for us.

My wife covers most of the time, but always when we pray or read Scripture, and always when we are "at church".

There are a lot of other women who cover who comment here, many of them explain their own reason for covering:

April,

Her hair is pretty fine too. The metal snap clips that Paula mentioned work pretty well on the traditional covers, but it still is a struggle sometimes.
