The Heart of Parenting: Day Two

Today Paul Tripp focused on the different stages of parenting, establishing authority in the early years, developing character in the middle years and then finally dealing with the teen years. What is key is how progressive it is. If you miss the early stages, you are going to have a tougher time in the later stages. That is where we find ourselves, with some kids in each age group. We are trying to institute Biblical parenting that focuses on equipping our kids in the younger ones and rebuilding what we messed up with the older ones. We came away from the conference challenged, encouraged but also mindful of the enormity of the task ahead of us and the impossibility of that task without the gracious hand of God. Submitting our parenting to Him is hard but there is not a viable plan B.
