Just Joe being Joe

I saw this tweet from the Vice-President of the United States yesterday and am reminded yet again why politicians should not be allowed to have Twitter accounts (see: Weiner, Anthony)

Um Mr. Vice-President that sounds lovely and all but what rights do your granddaughters not have that your sons and grandsons have? Voting? Nope got that. Free expression? Got that too. Keeping and bearing arms? Just kidding I know you don't believe in that but they have that right too. Owning property, driving, going to school? Check, check and checkity-check-check. Turns out that women have every actual right in this country that men do so Mr. Vice-President, your noble quest is complete and you can rest easy. Sleep well sir.

Joe Biden. Dick Cheney. Al Gore. Dan Quayle. We have had quite a string of...interesting....Vice-Presidents, all one heartbeat away from the Oval Office. If you think about it for very long you might break out in a cold sweat. I have said it before and I am sayin' it again, I am eternally grateful for a God who is sovereign because humanity is just a mess.

What media bias?

I assume no one is surprised by this headline...

VP Debate Moderator Pens Pro-Obama Book

WASHINGTON: Gwen Ifill, who is moderating Thursday's vice-presidential debate, is releasing a book on Barack Obama and other young black politicians who are "forging a bold new path to political power."

Questions are being raised about the objectivity of Thursday's vice presidential debate moderator after news surfaced that she is releasing a new book promoting Barack Obama and other black politicians who have benefited from the civil rights struggle.

Gwen Ifill, of PBS' "The NewsHour," is expected to remain as moderator, however.

"The book has been a known factor for months, so I'm not sure what the big deal is," said NewsHour spokeswoman Anne Bell.

She told FOXNews.com that there were no concerns about Ifill's neutrality, and that the debate Thursday between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden would go forward as planned. Ifill also moderated the 2004 vice presidential debate.

"We were pleased that the (debate) commission once again turned to Gwen to moderate the debate," Bell said. "They've known and trusted her as a moderator and that's wonderful."

Ifill's book, "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," is due to be released about the same time the next president takes the oath of office.

In her book, Ifill contends that the black political structure of the civil rights movement has cleared the way for post-racial politicians to ascend to new heights.

Now some are wondering whether Ifill can be fair and balanced, and whether she should be the moderator of Thursday's 9 p.m. ET debate.

"Clearly her books aren't going to do as well unless Obama wins, so it looks like she has some investment, literally, in one candidate or the other. And she's supposed to be sitting there as a neutral arbiter during the debate," said NPR's Juan Williams, a FOX News contributor. "I think the world of Gwen Ifill but I know there's a perception problem."

John McCain told FOX News Wednesday he believes Ifill will be "objective" at the debate.

"Does this help if she has written a book that's favorable to Senator Obama? Probably not," McCain said. "But I have confidence Gwen Ifill will do a professional job."

Why the media even pretends to be unbiased shows how delusional and self-important they really are. Maybe we can have Rush Limbaugh moderate a debate for McCain and Obama? What is really sad is that most people are so starstruck by Obama that they don't realize what a creation of the media he is and how dangerous he is for America.

Vote for Barack, he’s clean!

In rapid order, Barack Obama made a huge deal out of announcing his VP choice by sending out a text mail, and then made people wait until the next day and then his huge announcement? Uber-annoying Senator Joe Biden.

No sooner did Obama announce his choice than we started seeing the quotes from Joe Biden. One, the more damaging one, is Biden saying that Obama is unqualified for the job and that the presidency is not the place for on-the-job training. Expect to hear that over and over again over the next few months.

The other quote is so incredibly condescending that it is almost breathtaking. Biden describes Obama as:

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

A black guy and he's clean and articulate! That is either faint praise or it is a thinly veiled insult. Imagine if John McCain said that, the press would be apoplectic.

The choice of Biden is clearly a safe one, designed to put someone on the ticket who has a ton of foreign policy background. But the problem is that we aren’t voting for a co-President. The Biden choice really highlights just how unprepared Obama is and how flawed his candidacy really is. He picked someone who his team knew had tons of quotes that make Obama sound unready because he IS so unready and had to get someone with substance and experience to balance out his charming lack of gravitas.

Please, please, please Senator McCain pick someone decent. Obama’s lead had evaporated completely, he peaked too soon and the more people look at him, the less certain they get. If McCain picks someone solidly conservative for his VP, he should be able to take Obama and win solidly, but if he does something dumb and picks someone unpalatable to conservatives (especially someone pro-abortion) he will hand the keys to the White House to one of the most unprepared and ill-equipped men to ever hold the office of President.
