The Problem With Preaching

Eric Carpenter put out a great post last night, 4 Problematic Defenses of Preaching Monologue Sermons During Church Gatherings, where he looks at the deep problems associated with the four most common defenses of the monologue sermon that dominates church life in much of the evangelical world. I have run into all of these and if you already assume that monologue preaching is proper because that is what we culturally expect, they certainly seem like sound defenses.
